Kenneth Neu FBI Kenneth E. Neu, FBI, Retired

Assistant Chief Neu entered the FBI as a Special Agent in 1969. He was promoted to Supervisor in 1981 and then assigned to the Criminal Investigative Division (CID), Violent Crimes and Major Offenders Section (VCMOS) at FBI Headquarters in 1990. During his assignment, he played an integral role in the formulation of the FBI’s “Safe Streets” Violent Crimes Initiative. He was promoted to Unit Chief of Safe Streets and Gang Unit, VCMOS, CID, at FBIHQ in 1995. As Acting Section Chief, Mr. Neu was directly involved in the formation within the VCMOS of the Office of Crimes Against Children and Office of Indian Country Investigations. In 1999, he was promoted to Assistant Chief, VCMOS, CID at FBIHQ. While in this position, Mr. Neu was responsible for the reorganization of the Violent Crimes of Major Offenders Program, which included the establishment of the FBI’s Crimes Against Children investigative program.
