Soroptimist International Northwestern Region presented the Annual Northwest Conference Against Trafficking on January 9, 2010 in Portland, Oregon. The emcee was Priva David of KOIN6. Keynote speakers included Jane Velez-Mitchell, Cathy Standiford, Dallas Jessup and William Hillar. Click here to read more about the speakers. The conference featured breakout sessions, keynote speakers, an exhibit expo and an award luncheon.
Jane Velez-Mitchell, a television news journalist and host of the show “Issues with Jane Velez-Mitchell” on HLN was honored at the event. She received the Soroptimist Ruby Award: For Women Helping Women.
This award “acknowledges women who are working to improve the lives of women and girls through their personal or professional activities.”
