On Sunday March 7, 2010, a little over a year after 14 year-old Amber Dubois went missing, her remains were found in the rural San Diego suburb of Pala. The search for Amber Dubois was reignited after the disappearance of 17 year-old Chelsea King in the nearby suburb of Poway. There is a possible link between the two cases.
Escondido police, San Diego County Sheriffs Department and the FBI are currently investigating the case. At the news conference on Sunday, no suspects were mentioned.
Amber Dubois went missing on February 13, 2009 on her way to Escondido High School in Escondido, California. She left for her short walk to school with a $200 check to purchase a lamp through her school’s Future Farmers of America project. Amber never arrived at school that day and the check was never deposited. Investigators suspected she was abducted. For months, Amber’s family and friends searched for her alongside law enforcement and private investigators.
