5 Great Podcasts for Parents

October 29, 2008

Parents and Children

Podcasts are an amazing entertainment and informational resource for everyone, especially parents. For those of you unfamiliar with what a podcast is and how it all works I will briefly explain. Think of a podcast as a radio show that you can listen to anytime, pause, rewind, or fast forward. You can listen to a podcast on your computer or any MP3 player. You can even burn a cd from you computer to play in your car or home stereo. Despite the name, you do not need an Apple iPod to listen to podcasts.

The great thing about podcasts is they are generally centered around niche topics. If you have a topic of interest there is probably one, if not several podcasts, dedicated to that topic. Let's say you love to knit. Well then you might want to check out the Diva Knitting Podcast. Or maybe you want to learn about computers and technology. Have a listen to The Tech Guy. The topic list is endless and this can be attributed to the fact that the technology to create your own podcast is extremely affordable and even free. There has been an explosion in blogs by parents (Mom and Dad bloggers) and a natural extension to these blogs are Podcasts discussing parenting issues and personal parenting stories.

Here are 5 great podcasts that cover parenting, children, family life, and other issues that you can listen to while you run errands, clean house, or relax. Please not that these podcasts are for parents and not kids. There are plenty of podcasts out there for your children's ears.
